Due to the current surge in COVID-19 in Iowa right now, the rescue will be pausing normal operations and only handling emergency cases. We anticipate reopening shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday, but our board will be carefully assessing the situation and will make that call on a later date. We will be accepting applications to adopt and surrender, but will wait to process anything until our reopening. Thank you for your understanding.
The Surrender Process
At any given point we have approximately 15-25 rabbits on our waitlist to be surrendered.
Please be patient with us as we work through our waitlist in the order the form is received.
Our current wait length is approximately 3 months, though this varies by season.
If you have a need to surrender immediately, please contact your local animal shelter.
At this time we are only able to receive rabbits from within the state border of Iowa. If you are in Omaha, please note that any rabbits that are not candidates for adoption at the Nebraska Humane Society are typically transferred to us, please reach out to them for assistance.
The average cost to care for a surrendered rabbit and get them ready for adoption is between $100 and $200.
Our adoption fee is only $50.
Please consider giving a $20 donation with your surrendered rabbit to help us in their continued care. Click HERE to donate.
