Support A Home for EveryBunny this GivingTuesday by donating to our Bunny Bus Campaign! Our goal for the day is to raise $1,000 towards this vehicle. Why is this vehicle important to our mission? Our volunteers currently drive over 10,000 miles each year in their personal vehicles to pick up large loads of supplies, as well as transport rescued rabbits across the state. We even have to rent a uHaul trailer 6 times a year to pick up hay and food to provide for our foster homes. One of our main goals is to be sustainable in our mission so that we can be around for decades to come. Having a rescue owned vehicle to meet these needs of transportation is an important step forward in that goal. Aside from transporting supplies and rescued rabbits, we have exciting plans for this vehicle in its use towards community education! How amazing will it be to see the Bunny Bus around town!? Donate today at the link below and put "Bunny Bus" in the notes!

Farm Sanctuary Bunnies
From Iowa Farm Sanctuary's post in late June:

"...Iowa Farm Sanctuary, Hercules' Haven, and A Home for EveryBunny: Iowa's Rabbit Rescue worked together to help a community member in crisis, rescuing 33 animals (including ducks, rabbits, pheasants, quails, and a pig) from unsafe conditions in the process.

Iowa Farm Sanctuary was contacted by a concerned citizen whose neighbor had fallen on hard times. She shared that her neighbor is a survivor of domestic violence, and due to her injuries, was unable to care for the dozens of animals living on her property. The animals were living in poor conditions and had gone nearly two weeks without regular access to food and water, with the only source of nutrition coming from our contact who was bringing food scraps and clean water whenever she could.

Our contact had originally reached out to local law enforcement, but was shocked to learn that despite being within city limits (and therefore unlawful to even have these animals), there was nothing that could be done to immediately help the suffering animals because they aren’t considered domestic. Her neighbor had previously agreed to surrender the animals, so she set out to find someone who could help them, and we were happy to answer the call. We quickly assembled a team and headed to the property.

As soon as we arrived, the smell of death overwhelmed us. We were heartbroken to discover a large domestic rabbit, recently deceased, resting inside the fire pit. In the backyard of this home, we found dozens of animals in desperate need of food, water, and veterinary care. We worked together to safely remove 8 adult ducks and 8 ducklings (staying at IFS), 16 rabbits (now at A Home For EveryBunny for medical care and adoption), and one injured potbellied pig (now at Hercules’ Haven). We’re currently working with a wildlife rehab to get the pheasants and quails to safety.
The images really speak for themselves. We wish that there were more laws to protect farmed animals—they feel pain and suffering just like cats and dogs. They are just as deserving of love and safety. Change is long overdue. We’re so thankful that we had the opportunity to intervene and save lives.

Special and heartfelt thanks to our contact for offering food and water to the animals when they needed it the most and for taking action on their behalf."

The 16 bunnies rescued from this situation are settling in nicely. They're VERY excited at meal times and are quickly adapting to the house rabbit life.

Once these buns have received the medical care they need and are spayed/neutered, they'll be listed for adoption. We'll be sure to share more pictures and their progress in the upcoming weeks on our social media.

Obviously, with each unexpected rescue comes unexpected medical and general care expenses. If you'd like to help these bunnies, you can donate towards their care above.
