Who are the BunBerries?
Late one night we received a message to our Facebook page alerting us to a group of bunnies dumped on the side of the road in Clermont, IA. Thanks to a group of eager volunteers we were able to go to the site the very next day and we managed to catch 11 buns, 9 males and 2 female. We are sad to say that an additional 2 buns were spotted during Operation Rescue but were not able to be caught. We have since been back to the area but could not find any additional buns, we did run into some hunters, deer carcasses and a coyote running around. Our hearts hurt for those we left behind but we will console ourselves by taking care of the 11 we saved. As you can see from the photos, these bunnies were very much "picked in the wild" so we thought it would be fitting to name them after berries!
Pokeberry, Lingonberry, Mulberry, Huckleberry, Boysenberry, Gooseberry, Aroniaberry, Acaiberry, Gojiberry, Elderberry & Cloudberry were immediately taken to our vet, Dr. Benham at Animal Doctors for flea meds (they were hoppin'!) and a quick assessment. Dr. Benham noted that in addition to fleas, 4 buns need follow up medical care:
We will continue to post photos of the BunBerries on our Facebook page so you can follow their progress. We do not have any information on when they were dumped or by whom, if you have any information that you could share with us, we would greatly appreciate it.
We will have vet expenses for ongoing medical care and spay/neuter surgery for all of these buns. If you would like to donate to help us with this, please use the donate button below. We are thankful to our volunteers who rescued these buns, some drove 3+ hours there and back! We're so excited to rehabilitate these buns and look forward to getting them adopted into good homes!

- One has scabs all over and we need to monitor for abscesses
- One has a respiratory infection
- One appears to have an eye infection
- One is very wobbly on their feet
